I have recently signed up for a regular sky service and have Disk and box working away in one room. A friend has given me a second sky box. Is there a way I can split the signal to both boxes or to connect one box to another (they will be in adjoining rooms)?
Cheers wb

Hi,

You will need to install a quad lnb on your satellite dish, this enables up to 4 boxes to one dish, about eur40. You will then need to run a seperate cable from dish to the second box. With this box you can view the free to air channels, ie BBC(ALLDIGITALCHANNELS) ITV Digital channels, sky news cnn and many more. The easiest way to receive these channels is to go to sky news and press red button, when sky news interactive screen appears, put in a card into the sky card slot, eg atm card or credit card. press back up, when you are out of interective screen, your epg should red ch101 bbc1 london, ch102 bb2 england, ch103 ITV midlands, plus itv2,3 and4 and many more.
if you want ch4and ch5 plus sky3, i suggest you google for a free to view sky card or visit ebay.ie
Remember non of the above will get you any subscription channels for free. That would be illegal!!

you say "have Disk and box working away in one room". Does that mean you have a Sky+ connection? if you do, then you already have a quad installed....you'd further know this by seeing if there are 2 leads from the front of the dish coming into you...in that case you need to connect a third lead (using CT100 cable) to where you want to put the box.
If you fancy receiving Ch4 and Ch5, then get a UK based friend/relative to purchasde a FreeSatFromSky card for 20 sterling on your behalf.

Thanks for info guys
Can I get a 'quad lnb' in any TV shop or is this a specialist thingie?
Is it easy to install once I get on the roof?
I don't have Sky plus only the regular joe bloggs version.
I'll have no probs getting a free to view card, lots of rellies inUK, but I thought you had to have a uk address and that it was linked to a satelite box, I'll read the sticky on boards.
