At the foot of the garden, there's a damp patch of two metres squared with granite slabs of he garden path running through it. On one side of the slabs there's what's meant to be a flower bed (ie soggy muck) and lawn on the other. When overwatered/rained out, water spills from the bed onto the path (with the muck).

Can we fix? It doesn't really bother us but I'd like to get it right ... ...

Re the other problem - when the gardener put in his slabs, the material between (/under?) the slabs isn't filling out the grove totally between the slabs - is this a problem for ice i.e. with water potentially gathering and freezing over the years?

We haven't power-washed/sealed in the garden yet - is this a problem nowor in the future ?

Drainage is obviously very poor in the bedding area. Beyond this area, perhaps outside the bounds of your garden, does other land drain down to this area? You may need to dig a soak-away into this area.

What's between the slabs? Mortor or sand? How big is the gap?

Thanks Leo.

Other land does indeed drain down (we're on a hill, although second house down)

As its such a small area, could a - reading from the link provided - a small shaft filled with stone drilled down about 6-7foot discharge the problem. It is just two meteres squared of a problem .. ...

Re the slabs; yes, mortar between the slabs and looks well although not as filled out as we would have liked in places.
