TV screen - keeps blanking out on start up

I have an old Sony TV, a great box in it's day, but even I have to admit it has more than paid for itself !

Anyway, when I turn it on, for the first five minutes the screen alternates between picture and complete darkness evey few seconds. After about five minutes, it is fine and works as it should (warmed up I suspect)

Is it knackered or a less terminal problem that is worth taking to the tele man ?

I'd give the telly man a go at it.Sony seem to be the most repairable of all the tv's on the market.Ask him to give you a quotation before doing any work.
