TV license online renewal

so I get the tv license expiry reminder today and go online to renew. So far so good. To pay, I have to enter a PIN number and 17 digit account number. The gas thing is, both are on the reminder... so why the hell do I have a PIN and whats with a 17 digit - count 'em -account number.

I doubt there are 10^17 accounts out there!

A bigger gripe for me is paying the fee AND watching ads on RTE1 & RTE2..one or the other would be nice

nah, motor tax uses v2, this is definitely v1 - putting pin and a/c details on the same letter, whats it all about eh?

I could only wish...

no, just making the point that its a half assed system.I wonder how much the it people who designed it got paid. The a/c is unnecessarily long and the pin is redundant as its not sent seperately

I have paid mine online, I agree the ref number was rather long. It would have been nice if there was an option to pay quarterly, 6 monthly etc but it is not to be.
