Any idea why my TV Licence renewal notice shows an increase in the direct debit amount? Last year was €12.66 per month and the notice for this year tells me it will be €12.91. I don't recall any increase in the last year, and it seems like a tiny amount of an increase regardless. I'll give them a call on Monday, but I know one of our clever readers has the answer!

The quality of the programming on RTE 1 and 2 has increased to such an extent that you should be glad to pay and extra €0.25 per month.

Either that of the entertaining Mr. Tubridy has gotten a pay rise.

According to the rate was increased on 1st April 2005 from €152 to €155.
I pay mine annually in June and the new rate was applied then.
It looks like you got 8 months at the old rate. So that should make you happy with the service ;)

Rainyday, are you going to pay them the extra money for the eight months?
My good friend Jem has a great saying for situations like this - Don't feed the trolls!

So you actually get a discount of €0.08 if you pay by monthly DD? :)

12 x €12.66 = €151.92
12 x €12.91 = €154.92

There's probably a balloon payment at the end to cover the €0.08.

I attempted to pay my TV Licence today by phoning the low cost number and paying by credit card. I had to deal with a machine that asked me to quote my 16 digit TV licence number. Not an easy thing to do. Why do I need to quote 16 digits?
I had been sent my renewal notice with a PIN number attached but couldn't use this?
I was then asked to key in my credit card number. The system didn't recognise my credit card. Eventually I was transferred to a human being who could not match up my account number with my address. When I asked why, I was told that they were updating their records.
I was told that it will take 10 days to have my licence posted out.

...and so you dredged up a five year old thread to have a moan about it....

Good work!!

On a side note... ClubMan - do you realise you've averaged 20.26 posts per day for nearly six years...?

and RainyDay...CCOVICH....GeneralZod....who are they when they are at home now?

Incidentally PetrolHead, I thought that we were supposed to search for topics to see if they have been covered before rather than start a new one. Sometimes itis nice to see if things have changed from 5 yeras ago to today or are some companies still as inneficient as ever etc.
