Volks,

i think readers of Asboutmoney's Car pages may be interested in this eagerly awaited Car Survey by TUV (similar to the NCT people in Ireland) but very accurate:D

It was based on 15 million vehicle tests carried out in Germany over the last two years.

In 14 out of the total 21 categories, German brand cars were rated as the most reliable ahead of their foreign rivals' offerings.

The 2008 reliability study rates a total of 150 car models. Rated as the most reliable vehicle overall, the BMW 1-Series passed 97.8% of DEKRA certification tests without any problems.

Interestingly, the 2008 figures were adjusted to the cars' mileage rather than their age, to provide customers with the most accurate vehicle reliability data as possible.

Just a question : How do they know the history of the cars tested from when they were first on the road up to the test day? A car could have had lots of problems which were fixed before the test . Is it just based on the cars performance on the day of a test ? Just wondering
