Tullow to Dublin Commute

We are moving to Tullow in the next few months and plan to keep our jobs in Dublin (well, for as long as we can stick the commute anyway!)

Any advice on how best to commute? Don't really want to drive as parking is an issue beside work (€2.50 per hour disk parking).

Have heard bus service is quite good but haven't checked it out yet.........
Anybody commuting themselves or know of anybody commuting?

Mrs Beaky drives from Tullow to Dundrum every day. Takes between 1hr15min and 1hr 30min depending on traffic. Can be longer in bad weather, schools etc. Brittas is about 50 mins away where she cuts across to firhouse.

She is her own boss so can arrive before 7am or after 9.30am to avoid the worst of the traffic. The drive is about 51 miles one way. She has been doing this for 4 years and no sign of her getting sick of it yet, though it is a well paid job (motivation to get up early?) and she has a nice merc to travel in.

Can't comment on other modes of transport as she has not used them due to needing her car for work during the day. Carlow is 15 mins away and has a train service to Heuston.

i dont know about tullow but carlow has excellent bus and rail service to dublin, buses leave every half hour peak time, bus eireann and jj kavanagh, there are also trains every hour, earliest is 6.30, you can park at the train station free but dont know about the bus park? im sure there is a bus service from tullow as it is in the commuter area for dublin

I commute from outside Tullow to Citywest every day and it can take me 50 -1 hr via N81..the traffic can build up by the embankment pub as there is adjoining traffic from Saggart
Coming home it takes the same length coming the N9 through Castledermot, but in saying that the traffic can build up going through the town on Wednesdays for some strange reason and Fridays. Also heard that there are lights going to be put in Castledermot (bottom of town) to allow traffic from the tullow / baltinglass road easier access to n9..and they are going to move the pedistrian lights from where they are back up the town nearer the phone box.So 2 sets of lights in Castledermot.. fingers crossed it will be completed after the by pass!
Oh also the fools on the KKC have decided to dig up the granite block footpaths again that they spent an absolute fortune on and the delays in the town were unreal to put in parking bays.. Great decision KKC ...
