Tubular latch

Was getting sorted with door handles & latches for the internal doors for the house. There is a choice of the mortice lock & latch type for lockable doors and the tubular latch type for any doors which you may not want to lock.

The tubular latch type has a small latch bolt (relative to the full mortice lock type anyway) which I would reckon would be less effective at keeping the door closed. They are however half the price of the full mortice lock & latch type and since I don't really need a lockable door on some of the rooms...!

I would like to fit the proper latch which would mean that doors could be properly closed and would stay that way. Any opinions on those tubular latches - are they a success??

Hi laragh,

I'm not too familiar with your topic but I've found the people in Home Style DIY Ltd, 1 Mary st, Dublin 1, (01) 8735474 to be very knowledgeable/helpful. A call to them might give some good advice. They specialise in door handles/locks.
