Trying to sell my car on Done Deal

Hi,

Im currently trying to sell my car on Done Deal. Its been up for 3 months and have had limited enquires.

I know I can reduce price etc and I have already done that to no avail.

Other than Done Deal, what are my options for selling car privately? Are there other websites I could advertise on?

No i know and i have done. Its a lot lower now than when i originally advertised. Hopefully a bit more traction now.

My question though is - other than done deal, any other options for selling.
 
Facebook Marketplace. I see plenty of cars on there and I've sold a good few (non-car) items there recently.

Selling a car privately is incredibly difficult and takes time. There is so much choice available. You need to put it up on numerous site. Compare the price of your car against others of the same year and mileage and put yours at a cheaper price. People are going to be more wary of buying privately than buying off a dealer, so you are going to have a smaller market to sell to. Those who will buy privately are also more likely to look for a deal. If they see an ad up for 3 months, they are going to look for more money off to take the car off your hands. Be prepared to go lower again.
 
Find a few friends/family who work in large employers and can post on work intranets.

Far less risk of scams and timewasting.
 
Would you not be better off and would it not be easier to find a dealer to take it off your hands?. Car is just depreciating in value sitting there anyway. You've already admitted you've had to cut the price, what would a dealer give you?

I have sold a couple of cars in my time, the simple question is - how good is your add, the amount of information that is left out of car sales adds and poor pictures is baffling.

If the add is crystal clear, and the price is right, then you just need patience my friend.
 
Yeah its really clear and i recently updated pics so i guess i justneed to sit back light up a cigar and wait for the bait to do its job.

Yeah its a real possibility Mr Peanuts. I guess im getting a lot of utility out of it in meantime and i sure love that car so its ok. But now im gona up ante.
 
I’ve sold a fair few cars privately over the years, selling them very cheap makes them sell

More seriously I generally find you need to price it at what it would cost to buy up north, most private buyers spending a decent amount of money are savvy and need to be motivated

If the car is specialist reducing the price is not always worthwhile you just need patience

Forget dealer prices, I’m currently trying to sell a quite expensive car privately, my price is 10k cheaper than dealer equivalent(mine has a better warranty too because it had manufacturer one) and despite one early interested party who went elsewhere because I was flaffing around I’ve had limited interest

If the car is less special and there are lots for sale you need great pictures, all details in the add and needs to be cheap,
 
Thanks Cameo. I think it is cheaper now versus lots of the same spec car. Lots of good photos. All the detail. We ll see.

I dont want to sell it for a figure i consider too low and in that sce ario will hang on to it. Im not i a rush to sell it thankfully.

Having said that, to save time and hassal, id conaider approaching dealerahips to do a trade in and would obviously take a bit less than what im asking privately.

Ill give it something like another 5 or 6 weeks private before i go to dealership.
 
Depends on the car also, is it a desirable model/spec/year and mileage..People are seemingly very picky these days on everything (colour/spec etc). Regardless of price it may just have a lower audience for the car..
 
Carsireland is another site I watch for cars , I think it's better than done deal .
