Trying to connect 2 USB's to laptop

Excuse my ignorance if I'm not using the right language bit of an amateur!

I'm trying to copy stuff from one external hard drive to another, I have 4 USB slots on my laptop but when I plug them both in I can only see one. So I have to copy from one to my c drive then unplug it, plug in the other one and cut and paste it in. Anyone know I can see both devices and transfer straight from one to another?
 
Might be a power issue (not enuf) even though you have 4 ports they often come from the one source.


I was sick of not getting some usb devices 'recognised' or connecting & then disconnecting...so got a 7 port usb mains powered hub and happy days now.


Recommend a good brand...I got this one, Targus and it even has a little stand that you can screw down to hold it securely.
