TRS relief for married couple, one FTB

Hi,

we are hoping to trade up in the near future. I am not a FTB but my wife is.

We know we are not entitled to FTB relief from stamp duty, but I'm not clear what the impact is on TRS.

Are we entitled to TRS FTB relief as a married couple.
Or is my wife entitled to TRS FTB relief and I'm entitled to normal TRS relief.
Or are neither of us entitled to TRS FTB relief (as with stamp duty).

Does whose name appears on deeds or mortgage have any bearing?

Thanks very much for your help,
Stan

TRS treats you both as individuals. So if it's longer than seven years since you bought your first home, you get the lower "non FTB" rates of TRS. Your wife gets FTB TRS for seven years.

Thanks for the reply.

It's more than 7 years for me so I guess I get non-FTB TRS.

For my wife, does she get FTB TRS regardless of whose name is on the deeds and mortgage and regardless of who makes the actual monthly mortgage payments?

Thanks again,
Stan
