Myself and girlfriend are buying our first home together. As first time buyers and intending to avail of TRS are we both entitled to TRS as individual tax payers and avail of the 1,600 pa relief each or is it just a single 1,600 pa on the mortgage we will be both paying for?

You are both entitled to a single person's relief, so the total relief will be the same as if you were claiming jointly.

So that's 1,600 each off our annual payments?

Only if you are paying more than €8,000/€16,000 in interest.
