Sorry about asking this again but I cant find the 'last word' on this?
I heard an expert from PWC accountants on the radio the other week saying people who moved house or re mortgaged would continue to get tax relief on their new mortgage even though it is more than 7 yrs since taking out their first mortgage.
I'm not a first time buyer and have started my new mortgage three years ago. Yesterday my bank wrote to me and said I'm getting no more TRS. is this correct. They didn't mention anything about temporary suspension?.
What is the position for non first buyers who have moved recently?
Ring the Tax office, give them your PPS number & they will tell you instantly where you stand.
I re mortgaged last summer & they were able to tell me exactly whats left on my tax relief.
you should get a letter in the post from revenue, then you re-apply on line and it will be backdated, its under trs recommencement on their website, you need pps number and mortgage account number, i did it last week though it will probably take a few weeks for it to be sorted.
colm, do the recommencement on line as i think that speeds it up and they will look into each case then, thats what they told me when i phoned them but i got the letter from them in the meantime to do it.
I'll wait & see. The letter just said it was being looked into. I rang them previous to that & was told my situation was fine for getting TRS for the next 4 years.
I'll wait till the start of July & see if I get TRS for that month first.
