Saw an item I would like on ebay and set up an account today, but when I try to bid I get this msg

Attention Buyer
To help protect your account, we limit the amount of items purchased by a single account at any one time.

This buying limit is temporary. You can come back soon and buy more items.

It's the first item I've tried bidding on and I'm just wondering does anyone know am I doing something wrong or how can I rectify this??

Thanks!

That message is there for your own safety and should not stop you from placing a bid.

It would be well worth your while to have a thorough read through the safety tips also.

Thanks for the link sueellen, I am a bit green  No luck tho, I'm still on 0 bids... Can't understand the "we limit the amount of items puchased" msg as I've only tried to bid on one thing

If you only set up the account today, it may just be a case of waiting a day or two before you're allowed place any bids at all? Some sort of a security measure to stop people opening accounts in order to place a 'vexatious' bid?

Waited over night but still nothing happening. Emailed ebay but I suspect I won't get a reply before the auction ends in 2 1/2 hrs... :( Have added credit card details to ebay account and opened a paypal account but can't verify my credit card on that yet. Any other suggestions? I know I sound mad but it's a coffee machine I wanted for ages, just wasn't prepared to pay full price ;)
