Trivia Question: 'What year was the first public Chritmas tree in Dublin city centre?

Hi,

I was asked a trivia question recently which I cannot find out. I am hoping some genius on here will know the answer.

'What year was the first public Chritmas tree in Dublin city centre.'?

Someone told me it was 1956, but I cannot find any evidence of this yet.

I have two B&W pictures, one of my aunts, one of my parents, taken outside the Mansion House in the late 40's (48 or 49). The Lord Mayor's Christmas tree is in the background. Is this a record?

Im sure there are lots of people who have more B&W photos then that so I cant see it being a record.
