Triton T90Z electric shower making strange noise

So I'm in Beaumont Dublin 9 and I've had a few different Triton showers over the years, currently have a Triton T90Z. Recently it has started making noise when more than one person uses it consecutively, usually while the 2nd person is showering.

I thought this might be down to low pressure (it's been working fine for years though) and I had a good DIY guy look at it. He said he cleared an airlock but also said that it needs a pump. Now in all my time dealing with Triton showers I thought the whole point of them was that they're tank fed and don't require a pump.

I thought I understood them but now I'm confused. Is it possible to get an external pump for a Triton T90Z? If so would it help with low pressure?

In my experience, get an actual triton service engineer out.

I would assume most gravity fed electric showers have some small pump inside them.

By far the vast majority of tank fed instant electric showers employ a pump to have a decent head pressure, whereas most mains fed instant electric showers do not.
The only thing that can make noise within the Triton T90Z is the pump, surely you must have wondered what was making the noise in the shower unit from day one?

Yes it is.

The Triton T90Z has now been replaced by the 'Triton T90sr silent shower', while not completely silent it is appreciably quieter than the former ?

Thanks, what I meant by noise was not the normal sound a Triton makes but a high pitch noise like there's no water going through, even though there is water in the attic tank.

Regarding the pump maybe I wasn't clear. The DIY guy meant I should get an external one as opposed to the pump inside the shower.

Never mind changing the pump, changing your 'DIY Guy' may be more appropriate.

These showers are made for gravity fed systems and NOT for any type of pumped/pressure feeds !!

Ok, not normal and while pump bearings may be on the way out it would be worth checking all filters within the shower unit are spotlessly clean along with the shower head as well.
Badly worn pump carbon brushes can make noise as well but usually this would be accompanied with intermittent running of the pump.

I have found diy and even plumbers know very little about the inside of things they supply and fit. I recommend speaking direct to triton.
