I have been offered a trip to Las Vegas the first weekend
in December. Going out on a Thurs and Back Tuesday.€600 includ flights&acccomd. Once in life time chance so I could not let this pass. I have heard its supposed to be amazing. Just wondering if any of you have ever been and what was was your opinions?
Apart from the Casino's was the shopping any good??
Any tips or advice would be great.
Thanks

I went last year. It really is amazing. Just to see it. We stayed in MGM and it was huge. You would send a week there alone.

Shopping is ok. You can go to factory outlets which are ok. But if you are staying on the strip, it is mainly all casinos, apart from a cool M&M's shop and coca-cola shop, and of course a mcdonalds. A few novelty shops thrown in as well.

There are 2 parts of vegas ,the strip and downtown. The strip is where all the big famuos hotels are.

Do you know where you are staying? How many nights does the 600 include. Sounds like an amzing deal alright.

Best thing I thought about Vegas, was if you are gambling, even on penny slot machines, you get free drink. Well tip the girl a dollar each time if you want.

Hi Decbuck
Thanks for repsonding. I dont know the exact details of the trip. Basically my SIL who lives in Dublin got the deal through one of the travel agents, but she could only hold the places until today so we all have to make up our minds whether or not we are going. I only heard about this last night so have no info with regard to flight details or accommodation so I will find out today and email once I have the info.....Does €600 sound too good to be true.....or is it just the time of year after Thanksgiving in America.....
Did you not think the outlets were any good or was there just rubbish in them. I have been to Orlando/NewYork and always found the outlets to be great!
Did you find it cheap or expensive overall with regard to food/drink etc.... I know when I am on hols I never worry about the price but it woud be good to get as much info before we go!!

We kind of fell into a trap. There is a fasion outlet about 1 hour drive away and we went there. Free bus and all. But it was no good. There was one a lot closer. We got taxi there when we got back. It was a good outlet. Had usual branded shops, tommy, timberland etc... so worth a look.

I did not research too much into shopping before I left so the net might be a good idea.

If it is only 600 I would deff go. If you have the money and the time off . You will love it. I went with my gf, and though she knew nothign about cards, or gambling, she loved playing blackjack at the end. The dealers are really friendly and actually explain the game to you if you do not know.

Food wise, we were only there for 3 days, so not a whole lot of experience. They have buffets in each hotel. These are about 10-13 dollars for all you can eat. You can have steak, fajits, ham, salad, desert. You won't believe it. So they are not expensive.

One thing I have seen on notice boards, is try your arm for everything. Eg. tell them it's your honeymoon, birthday when checking in and ask for a free room ugrade. Ask if they have any meal comps... etc.

If I was you I would find out what hotel it is before you leave. Just out of curiousty so that you know where you are staying, and whats close.

Fire awya on the questions, I'll answer if I know.

Vegas

No problem Shrek.

Sounds like an amazing deal. You will have a ball. As you know, loads of stuff on Vegas on the net, so you won't be stuck for ideas.

One thing we kind of regretted not doing was going to see a show. Lord of the Dance was there when we were there but we didn't go.

There is this ticket shop beside the coco-cola shop on the strip that sells tickets for most shows at half price. The shows are on that evening, so they try and sell them off.

Maybe you can put a post here about how you got on when you get back.

Las vegas Trip.

Make sure you visit the Venetian. Shows can be expensive if you pay full whack but if you are playing in a casino ask one of the floor staff if they can get you a complimentary. If you have lost money tell them & this will help.
If you are on a "once off" to Vegas a trip to Grand Canyon South Rim is a must although there will be snow there in Dec. There are early morning trips from the small airport (mostly 9 seater planes) that and close to the Rim and get you back to your hotel about lunchtime. Price about 125$ including guide, hotel pick up & lunch.
AMAZING !
Best retail factory shops are at Barstow which is about 2 hours West on the freeway to L.A. Those on the outskirts of Vegas are poor.

I love Vegas!!!!!!

I'm so jealous, You are going to have the best time...Hubby and I went for our honey moon 2 years ago and we are both dying to go back... It's like Disney world for adults!!! Do set a limit to how much you want to gamble..We just played the slot machines as I wouldn't know a card game if it hit me but those slot machines are great fun!!! We stuck to our limit and were happy!! No re-mortgaging the house when we got back!!! We flew from Shannon to Newark and onto Vegas and our flight alone was the cost of your holiday so you've got a great deal...Make sure you see a show, everything is so much glitzier in Vegas...Be prepared to tip as well..It's a big tipping place....Have you looked at

Re: I love Vegas!!!!!!

With such a low price there might be some catch when you get over there. Maybe something to do with attending time-share presentations that go on for hours. Still though, nice deal.

vegas is great

You are going to have a great time. I was there couple of years ago. As a previous poster said it is like Disney for adults. If you take a walk along the strip at night a lot of the hotels have outdoor "shows". The Bellagio hotel have fountains that "dance" I think they showed this is Oceans Eleven, its beautiful. Then there are ships that sink on the street, volcanoes that erupt etc etc. Visit all the hotels they are themed. The venetian is the best, it has venice reproduced inside, down to the gondolas. Also visit the Stratosphere, its a hotel in a tower. You can go to the top and get panoramic views of vegas, there is a rollercoaster around the outside, very good but very scary. I'm very jealous would love to go back. not a clue.
