Trimming carpentry and floors

Hi,
Our new build is at the stage where it is plastered and I'm waiting foir the heat to get switched on. My builder is anxious to get the final carpentry bits done (stairs, skirtings, doors, architraves, window boards etc). However I was hoping to have the heat on for a few weeks before any of this work would be done, and ideally even get the floor tiles down first also.

Is there an ideal timing or sequence of events when it comes to finishing off a house? Given the fact that I can probably only hold the builder off for so long what are the main things to avoid to ensure I don't have shrinkage and cracks etc appearing after a few months.
Thanks,
BTBL/
