Treating staircase for insects

Hi,

Our survey mentioned that we needed to treat our stairs for timber decay and insect attack. does anyone know what product to use and how to go about it?

Something along the lines of Protim Universal will do the trick. See these previous threads for more info.

Had a quick look through those links. I dont have the spray packs used for weedkiller etc, so could i use a brush or would it be less effective?

Also how long goes it take to dry as we will be in the house when its being done and dont want the fumes to kill us!
 
Yeah, a brush would be fine. It dries at about the same rate as water, you will need to ventilate the are well as the fumes aren't the most pleasant.
