Hi

I bought a 'VFIT' treadmill in July from Argos, I got it over the 6months interest free option so its not paid for yet, its due to be paid in December. I use the treadmill fairly regularly first I just used it for walking and walked about 3miles every second day on it, I then started to run 1 mile most nights on it and when I tried to up it to 2 miles it would cut out after a mile and a half, its supposed to hold up to 17stone on it and im no where near 17 stone, and you are supposed to oil it every 3 months if its used more than 5 times a week, maybe I didnt oil it enough as its now making a dreadful noise when im running on it. What can I do? I have the reciept and its guaranteed for a year but i dont have the box it came in as I had no room for it, can I send it back? surely they dont expect me to pay for an item that cuts out when im using it and makes a terrible noise when im running on it? does anyone have any advice?

I'm no legal expert on Consumer issues but if you didn't maintain the item according to the user instructions you may be in bother. The manufacturers obviously have an agent appointed in this country so you would be best to call back to Argos and explain the situation to them. I would say the least of your problems is not having the box.

Contact Argos, they are fairly good on exchanges/refunds.

Couldnt agree more, Argos do excellent after sales service, they once fully replaced a 2 year old exercise bike for me that the strap around the wheel had broken on, the model was no longer in production, so they could not repair, so I got a full replacement (better model too).
Give them a call, they should definitely be willing to help out.
