I'm going to be staying close to Carrickmacross in 2 weeks time on the Sat and we are planning to go up North for a few hours for a booze/shopping & DIY shop run.

I want to avoid Newry as its like a zoo at the weekend, so the plan was to go to Omagh straight up the N2/A5. There is a big ASDA there with a Homebase across the road. Its a 90km drive from Carrick to Omagh and I know Armagh is probably closer, but I didn't think there was anything as handy as the Asda/Homebase there last time I passed through.

Would this be our best option or would anyone have any other suggestions?

omagh would be better than armagh - armagh has a sainsburys but its not very big. strabane has a 24 hour asda which is worth a visit if you are heading towards derry/donegal direction.

Is Enniskillen any closer? I know it has an ASDA, not sure about DIY stores.
