It always used to be American Express at the very bottom of Grafton Street (the non pedestrianised bit that people don't think is Grafton Street)... I think they've moved now to Nassau St. between Grafton St. and Dawson St.... They certainly used to offer good rates / low comission and free buy back a few years ago.
However having said that - why travellers cheques ?.. unless you are going somewhere you're going to have a real problem with Credit Card Acceptance / ATM availability (and that's not many places these days) I would think there is little point in using travellers cheques any more.
Yeah I would agree with that, but I am getting them for my parents not for myself.
They are travelling to Tunisia and, after hearing so many scare stories, they are reluctant to use credit cards or ATMs in foreign countries. So rather than bring a load of cash over, they want to get travellers cheques.
By the way, do you have to order the cheques in advance or anything or can you just go in and get them straight away?
Shouldn't be any need to order in advance for regular US$/EUR cheques - Amex would for sure have a stock of them.. you local bank probalby would too ... might be worth giving them a buzz to see if Amex deal is really better still (I'm thinking back 4/5 years)
