Travel to Cyprus at Christmas - Safe?

We booked to go to Cyprus for Christmas but my partner doesn't want to go now, and his family are advising him not to go due to the proximity of Cyprus to Israel and the fact that people have been evacuated from Israel there, there could be the possibility for random terror attacks. I heard that soldiers from Germany and Canada were in Cyprus at the moment due to possibility of evacuations from Lebanon. Do you think my partner is right to be concerned?
