Hi,

My wifes very elderly grand mother has taken poorly and it looks now not very positive. We have a trip abroad booked flights and hotels. If it is a case that we do have to attend a funeral is this covered under travel insurance.

Thanks,

Dave

It is as long as she wasnt ill or diagnosed with illness prior to you booking the trip or taking out the insurance cover but i stand to be corrected....

What does the policy class as immediate family? Some insurers only class siblings and parents as immediate family for funeral purposes.

Peteb and shesells both right.
#Assumung a grandmother is covered -check policy - you still have to prove that she had no preexisting condion at the time you booked. Whether you should have been aware of it or not makes no difference,
I cant imagine a very old person not having such a condition.Insurers will want a doctors letter stating that she had a no known preexisting condtion.
