Travel Insurance Claim

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if a credit card statement would do in lieu of receipts in the case of a claim for an overnight delayed flight?

I have made a claim to my insurance claim and they have requested receipts for any expense occured. I paid for everything with my credit card and did not keep receipts so I'm wondering if my statement is satisfactory proof?

Has anyone been in a similar circumstance?

In my experience of these things (not on delayed flights but on lost baggage claim) they will eventually pay out if you keep up the pressure but unless you have all the documentation /receipts completely sorted it can take ages and much to-ing and fro-ing

So in the interests of getting reimboursed quickly I would first of all try to contact the hotel you stayed in .. they will most likely have no problem re-issuing a receipt and sending it on to you - if you can get this it will save a lot of time.

Had a claim last year with my travel insurance (first one).

They settled very promptly and in full.

If you are claiming out of pocket expenses, accommodation etc then you have to be reasonable. Eg You don't have to stay in 5* Deluxe or claim for 6 course meals.
