After the sudden death of a young relative, I'm now looking after the cancellation of all ties the deceased had i.e. sorting out outstanding loans, social welfare stuff etc.

The deceased died abroad and the death cert is in Ukranian.

My questions for ye are:
1) Am I right in thinking that I will need to get the death cert officially translated into English to use it here in Ireland?
2) Would the cert be officially covered if I got it translated by the [FONT=verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association

I've tried to ring the ITIA but am only getting a voicemail message.

Thanks

You definitely need to get it translated into English. A certified translation would be best. The translator can't certifiy it for you - I think you will need certification from either the Dept of Foreign Affairs or the Ukrainian Embassy I think? Call Consular Section of the DFA (01 478 0822) and see what they suggest. Or else the Irish Embassy in Prague who are accredited to Ukraine
