Transferring Parental leave between public sector bodies

Hi

I am currently taking one day a week off as parental leave. I work in a public sector body. My parental leave is coming to an end. However I know there is something about transferring parental leave from one parent to another if you work for same employer. My husband works for a local authority - public sector. Does anyone know if his parental leave could be transferred to me. Even though we are in different organisations, we have the same employer ie: government

Anyone any experience of this?

Hi Keea,
I know that you can in fact transfer parental leave between spouses that both work in the civil service (even if it is in two different departments).
However you cannot transfer leave between the civil and public service.

What i'm not sure of is if you can transfer between two public sector bodies. A quick phone call to your personell dept should confirm either way.

Your husband would be entitled to parental leave in his own right, there is no need to transfer it.

Thanks Shawady,

I checked it with HR and I cannot take his parental leave because even though we are both working for public sector bodies, they are different organisations so seen as different employers.
