Transfer money from a BOI a/c to an AIB a/c

Last week I needed to pay money into an AIB a/c. I thought there would be no problem transfering funds from my BOI a/c to the AIB a/c as I had transfered money to other euro countries by using IBAN and BIC. However, when I went to my local BOI branch and asked could I make a transfer from my a/c to an AIB a/c I was told NO. Can this be right?
 
I transfer money regularly online from BOI to AIB within Ireland - takes about 3 working days though.

Yes I had the same problem with BOI. I went to the counter and they said they could not transfer money to my AIB account. They could give me the cash and I could go down to the local AIB and lodge it! So much for technology.

I did this transfer the other day in BOI Branch. The one requirement is that you must have a pre-printed or pre-encoded lodgement for your AIB account.

Do it online or over the phone.

About ten years ago, you could go into any Irish bank branch and lodge money to an account in any other Irish bank.

Gradually, the banks have been taking away services.

Irish Banks operate a CARTEL OF BAD SERVICE.
