Any recommendations for a two night stay in Tralee this weekend. Close to shopping and restuarants would suit. Checked Tripadvisor but would like to hear some local viewpoints ... Thanks

the meadowlands is a lovely hotel with nice bar food and music at the weekends also the abbygate is town centre and is nice. A good restaurant is italian il pomo doro very well priced and great food but you have to book. The grand is a nice hotel old style with good food also and is dead centre as op said.

To be honest the Grand is just about grand, if you'll excuse the pun. The Abbeygate is central but a basic 3 star. Meadowlands is very nice, about 1/2 a mile from the town centre, but has no leisure facilities. The Brandon is OK, 4 star I think but in reality a good 3 star, it is more or less in the centre of town and has leisure facilities. The other option is Manor West, a new hotel which is 4 star and has leisure facilities. It is about a mile from the town centre but is beside the main shopping centre.

For a meal out try Restaurant David Norris, by far the best place to eat in Tralee.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Avoid the Abbey Gate. We stayed here about 10 months ago on a 2 nights B&B with an evening meal offer and it was dire. By all accounts it was taken over by a new owner towards the beginning of last year and has gone downhill since.

Some Tralee Hotels were reviewed here a few weeks ago and here.

There is also a Tralee/Kerry resturants key post here which is a little out of date.
