Train Travel in Europe

Any tips on train travel in Europe. Possibly travelling from Prague to Cologne at end of November. Could fit in an overnight on way. How best to get cheapest fares with comfort.

In August I travelled by train from Istanbul to Zurich, including 2 nights on Sleeper trains. It was brilliant. This site www.seat61.com is fantastic for information on train travel in every European country (and beyond) . It was my main information source.
