when trading in your old car for a newer car to a car dealer.what happens to the vehicle registration logbook.is the car dealer required to submit the logbook of the car (you have just traded in )to the motor tax vehicle registration unit immediately or is the dealer allowed to keep that log book in their posession (in my name ) until they sell that car on to some one else later on

I had the same concerns very recently and rang the VLC office in shannon and basically the dealers have their own forms (RF105) that change ownership to the garage without knocking up the number of previous owners on the vehicle.
