trading down

I have a 04 Renault Scenic dynamic 1.6 automatic with only 27 on the clock that I am trying to sell privately with no takers. We are only asking 16250 and have it on carzone, cbg and buy and sell. Is it worth trading down or does anyone have any idea? I want to get a 1.2 - 1.3 instead.

last year I bought a 2003 high spec passat diesel estate for about 15k... so this year it should be worth 13ish. so a 04 version would be worth 15k.

whether they should or not... passats hold their value.

so you expect somebody to pay 16k+ for a 04 Renault when they can have a Passat for less? and it's an auto!

It's not selling because it's priced too high.

and you need to price at 1-2k less than a dealer price if selling privately. so about 12-13k?

this one is seriously overpriced!

Moving from a 1.6L engine to a 1.2 or 1.3 does not constitute trading down in my book. If you are having difficulty selling privately why not look at trading it in for a smaller engined car with a dealer?

Last year I bought a 03 (old model) from a dealer for 11k. 1.4 Sportway, 30+K, twin roof, Climate Control etc etc. It is a Renault... They don't hold their value, price accordingly!

Towger.
