Trade prices

I have set up a small business doing repairs and painting.
I buy a lot of materials but in small quantities .
I am would like to know, in general,how do I qualify for a 'trade' discount with say, a builders providers or paint suppiers ?
Would I have to have an 'account' to get the discount?
Does anyone know what a typical discount is compared to the retail price?

Any advice would be appreciated..

Just go and directly ask them for a trade discount when your purchasing. Bring some headed paper or something from your business should cover you.

I've seen 25-30% on car parts don't know about builders providers.
