Tracing saving accounts

Is there a facility or service to do a global search for bank accounts, or accounts of any kind held my a deceased person. My mum left a will but gave no details. I believe the estate should have been greater than it was as she was very frugal and died in her ninties. I dont want the expense of hiring a solicitor I already took out probate based on the information at hand. Thank you in anticipation of replies.

So, where did the money go to?

There is no facility available to do the kind of search you want.

All you can do is go through all of her papers and make the appropriate enquiries.
Either your mother was very ordered in which case the information is there. Or she was ordered but secretive in which case the money may well be lost. Or she spent all her money.

Thank you for reply MF. I think the ordered and secretive conclusion is the right one. I had seen an american service called missingmoney.com and had just wondered if there was a similar service in Ireland.
