I will be changing my car in the next few weeks. I have a Toyota Corolla Petrol 1.4 at the moment. The garage I may be buying from suggested that I buy a diesel instead of another petrol as I do approx. 500 miles per week which costs around 50 euros. I don't know much about the diesel model as they haven't been out that long - does anyone have any feedback on this model, either good or bad, resale value etc.
I'd start with how many litres per 100km for both cars,
multiple by the price of fuel. see the difference in cost per 100kilometers
how many of these in the price difference.
litres per 100kilometers ----------price per ----------litre cost 6.7---------------------------------------- 1.14 ---------------7.63 4.8 ---------------------------------------1.09---------------- 5.23 saving per 100km----------------------------------------- 2.4E
so you save E2.40 per 100k,
if the diesel is E2400 dearer, it'll take a 100,000 kilometers...
you'll also have to take different service intervals etc into a/c so this is just a guide....
do I'd say it'd take you just over 2 years at 500 miles per week, and after that you're laughing.
ps: I looked up the actual consumption figures, but took a handy number for the price difference, you'll have to get the proper numbers there off cbg or your dealer, but I think you get the picture.
