Does anyone have any idea of what course you might do or where to look up info on becoming a tour guide?
Always fancied working in tourism but have no idea how you go about it.
A lot of the big attractions are taking on seasonal staff right now to cover the summer season, but you may have missed the boat on applications for these roles.
Thanks complainer, but I probably should have said Tour Director. The guide who takes care of people on tour holidays, giving them lots of historic & geographic information & taking care of hotel & restaurant bookings etc.
I did this (for german speaking coach tours to ireland) a life time ago. The co. I worked for did a course in spring, I think it was 4-6 weekends followed by an exam. At that time Bord Failte also did a one year course.
I just googled the co. name and they still exist. pm me if want their details.
I visited the Failte Ireland site to check what is available for professional qualifications (like Tour Director), but I was not able to find anything. Has anyone any idea of what I should be searching for?
