Torrents are a way of distributing large files through enabling copies of them to be shared across the WWW by people with the appropriate software. In summary, each file is split out into small parts and those parts are then obtained from a myriad of sources. The software on your PC assembles those parts into a usable whole.
Instead of downloading a single file of 1000Mb, torrents allow you to seperately and individually download (for example) 1000 files of 1Mb and the software stitches it all together again. Equally, while your PC is pulling all of that data together, other PCs ae pulling that data, already downloaded, from your PC.
Over time, torrents have become synonymous with distributing copies of copyrighted material without the authors of that material being rewarded. While there may be legitimate uses for torrents, they would, IMHO, be a miniscule minority of users.
Where to get torrents and how to download them is not allowed on AAM.
