Took voluntary redundancy - unavailable for work until August

I took voluntary redundancy from my company and I left last week. My redundancy payment was very generous and I am therefore excluded from claiming social welfare for at least 6 weeks.

Due travel plans and family commitments (an unwell parent) I am unable to actively begin seeking work until late Aug. I intend to inform the social welfare of this fact. My question is will I be entitled to claim JSB for 1 yr from the date I actively seek work or will the clock start from the date of my redundancy?

The duration of Jobseeker's Benefit was reduced by 3 months with effect from 3 April 2013. For people with 260 or more PRSI contributions paid. So 9 months is the maximum now.

The clock will only start ticking from the date you actually make a claim for JSB and as your only skipping a few months that shouldn't make any difference to your eligibility.
