tips on choosing 32"LCD TV

I want to buy a 32" LCD tv, with budget between €500-600. Its for my parents who watch quite a lot of tv!! they wouldn't be technically inclined so something very user friendly! any advice? have looked online and am overcome by all the models!!! How do I compare brands, models?what should I be looking for?

Is the sound really that good because they seem to get very poor reviews due to their position underneath and facing down, depends on the model I presume
