Sorry, meant to post this before the budget but had to bring moggie to vet and well, time passed.
I did search briefly but just found one post re tipping in general.

Am usually a DIY colourist and have now decided to get colour done at hairdresser, where I go once every 6 months for a cut, since I can't DIY that

Dude who owns the salon said he would do my hair...do I tip him or is that a ridiculous question? You can tell me if it is!

Not a ridiculous question at all. If your happy with the job, you could tip a small amount extra. If not, I would certainly bring it to his attention and NOT tip.

Its individual choice.

Thats kind of you! Given the recession and the size of other people's problems and the possible reduction in tips anyway, it seemed a bit silly. I think I will tip the person washing my hair but I would feel silly tipping the owner of the salon. The worst that happens is, he never does my hair again!
cheers mica

Think it would depend on the price charged as well as the quality of the job.....if you feel like you've been mugged then no but if the price is less than what you paid in the past maybe a euro or two just as a good will gesture.........

Oh God, tipped too much then! The price, apparently, is almost half that paid in some of the better-know salons.

Lovely girl was looking after me today, so I gave her a decent tip. Maybe too decent but sure, you live and learn.

Cheers m

ps. am also very pleased with hair
