Timing of Closing?

Anyone got any advice on how best to time a house closing ? We are selling our house and moving to a new build house in Air Park , Rathfarnham - estimate was originally September and now it is October. Thing is, how do you know that the timing won't push out to November/December/etc. - we don't want to wind up homeless selling our own house too soon !

What's the best way to handle this ?

i usually put to months on to the date issued by the builders (have bought 2 new houses in the past).It doesnt really matter anyway because you can give the auctioneer rough time so that he can tell people coming to view the house that ye wont be able to move out until a certain date.
