I have a sinking feeling I may have to change timing belt around now owing to age and mileage, anyone had experience of getting longer out of it? (I had a bad experience once of it snapping mid journey in Punto that was about 5-6 years old, so keep a close eye on the years since then). thanks in advance

To be honest I think you have answered your own question... I had mine done recently, 10yrs old banger, only 49k mls. As you know from past experience it ain't worth taking the risk if there is any way you can find the few washers.
