Getting the bathroom tiled

Tiler came in and said he can tile over the tiles or rip out whats there and tile

Difference is in price about €600 ?

Got second quote and told me that as our walls are plasterboard that better to get tiles taken down and new ones put up as they could move in a couple of years

Anyone ever get the option tiling over tiles ?

Still shopping for a price

Why dont you rip the old tiles off yourself ? Its a job requiring no skill whatsoever and shouldnt take very long for most bathrooms.

Tiling on tiles can be fine if the underlying tiles are well bonded.
If you tear tiles off PB, will probably wreck PB , and have to replace ...

Yes - it will be a mess.

The tiler has a point though - can you check your existing tiles to see if they are debonding from the walls? (Tap on them to hear a hollow[er] sound).
Have some come away already?

There are some previous threads on this subject if you run the search option in this forum you should get some advice.

did a search and found the below

but no real answer

tiles are wallpaper strips so they are solid but dont want to do it myself as I know I would only F it up

Would rather pay for someone to do it properly

Still looking at options and hope to make a decision soon
