Tiling over tiles (hall)

More DIY questions.

I've got tiles in the hall (the hall is quite small). I don't particularly like the tiles and also I had a wood floor installed in the living room, which is slightly higher than the hall floor. The difference is not huge and the fitter did an excellent job, so it's not really a big deal, but was wondering can I just tile over the old tiles? Would I need special tile adhesive/grout?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Petal, you sure can. You can buy adhesive for this, most tilers prefer to tile over existing tiles than removeing them and starting from scratch. Removing them and making good the surface can involve a lot of work.

Excellent news. So I've just got to look out for a special adhesive then. This hall will be transformed in no time. New tiles, new wallpaint! I'm sure I'll be back with some questions about the stairs in due course!
