Tiler Problem

Got a Polish "tiler" to lay polished porcelain tiles in our kitchen. They are 40 by 40 cm in size.He was on the cheap side but a few of our tiles have now started to lift/get loose.

Is this as simple as the tiler not putting enough adhesive on initally?or could something else be causing this?

Would another tiler be willing to come in and fix this as our inital tiler seems to have retured home?

Finally will it be possible to remove the loose tiles(about 5 in total) and simply put down more adhesive and replace them? Or are we looking at ripping up all the tiles?

Could be as simple as dirt on floor when he tiled , adhesive mixed too long before been used, or something more complex..

the first two would be easily solved yourself...

I had the same problem a few months back with my tiles. After ALOT of hassle with the tiler he agreed to replace them however when he went to take up the loose ones (5-6 in total) more of the solid tiles became loose and ended up replacing about 15-20 in total. More tiles are still actually loose but we decided to leave them as they are as we are afraid we would end up re-tiling the wholw kitchen again 3 months later.

We did make contact with other tilers to fix problem but they weren't too keen on taking on the job.

Moved from MNFQs.

Do you know what adhesive he used? If it wasn't the right stuff, you might be better lifting them all.

A tiler is going to charge a premium for this, it's a time consuming job ripping up tiles and preparing the background for re-tiling. Some/all of the tiles will need to be replaced. Do you have spares?
