Tile Shop Non Refund. Are They Right?

I recently ordered and paid for a large quantity of tiles. I have to collect them shortly but it looks like I will need a lot less than I originally thought. They say I won't get a refund for the tiles I'm not taking but will get a credit note. Are they legally entitled to operate this policy? Thanks in advance.

Hi Lex

Yes they are. In fact they are offering you the credit note as a gesture of goodwill.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Marion. Any idea when the credit note might expire or is that up to the individual company?

Hi Lex

I guess that each company will set its own expiry date. Any chance you could offload it to another potential purchaser? I really wouldn't like to be holding on to credit notes in the current climate.

That's what I'll probably do, Marion. I feel exactly the same about holding a credit note for, or paying a deposit to, any company or business at the moment. Thanks again. Most helpful!
