Thumbs up for service! (Optician)

Howdy! In a spirt of shiny happiness and goodwill I'd like to give a big cyber thumbs-up to my local optician.

I decided to eschew the Specsaves and the other speccy big-boys when I decided recently to go for a check-up and to get new glasses. Instead I opted to go local and went to Leonard Costello in the Superquinn shopping centre on Sundrive Road (Dublin 12).

He offered very good and friendly customer service - even let me take home and 'test drive' a couple of pairs of specs I was humming and hawing over. My test cost €20 (fully refundable by El Governmento) and the specs cost €50 once all the various deductions were made (price of test and further €40 contribution from El Governmento). Ordered the specs Saturday afternoon and they were ready for me on Tuesday.

Just wanted to share my general happy camperness with y'all (I'll be quick enough to grouch when things go pear-shaped).

Thanks for that coolaboola - I need to go and get new prescription sunglasses since mine were in car that got stolen and as I've already gotten new glasses this year can't get anymore out of government unfortunately so will be looking for the best deal I can get. Sundrive is local to me now so must go and have a look. Do you know the opening hours by any chance? Is he open on Saturdays or any evenings?

Hiya Janet,

Sorry to hear about your car. The opitician is open until 19:30 on Thursdays and until 14:00 on Saturdays. I'm not sure when he closes the rest of the week - it's 17:30 or 18:00 I think. His number is 01 4921335. Geez! I should get some sort of commission!
