Hi Y'all,
just a thread thinking of my miserable increase which leaves me with €2000 better off before 42% tax. workin' in the dreaded mulitnational (doing a job i love mind) and with raises like these don't i just wish i had kept up the leaving cert irish and went school teaching (better pay for time worked, no more stress than any other job & June and July)

Anyone else feel like santy forgot them.

What is the % pay increase? Normally pay increases are in line with inflation or thereabouts.

If you are doing a job you 'love', what's the problem? Was your increase in line with other employees in your area/sector? What sector do you work in?

Perhaps nelly is an Elf? Rather than blaming Santy you might be better off making your dissatisfaction with your increase known to your manager/employer especially if you think that you deserve more.

It's difficult to take any view on your post unless you specify the percentage of the gross increase involved.

Are you worth more to your employer now than you were 12 months ago?

Why don't you retrain to become a teacher now so?

Unfortunately it seems there are no part time courses to do this, so it could entail making a huge lifestyle choice and becoming a full time student again for a year or two which is not practical for everyone depending on their responsibilities.

I agree - but it's down to the individual as to what they are prepared to sacrifice for...
