Thinking of Donabate

I am considering buying a three bedroomed duplex in donabate (beverton area). Area about 110 sq meters with one ensuite. Built 1997. Asking price: Euro 345k. Is this a good deal?

Yes I know that it is an Irish financial website. Beverton Court is the place and it is no doubt in Donabate. I have been there!

Donabate is a nice distance from city.
Its on the dart. That price seems ok for Dublin area prices.
If you travel a bit further out on the train line you will get the same for a lot less money but then you wont have the convenience of being so near the city if thats what you want.
Eg in Bettystown which is only 20 to 25 mins max further up the line you will get a 3 bed large duplex in Castlemartin for 255k at the minute. Substantial saving and same sort of area ie on train line, beach near by etc.
Do some comparisons on daft.

Thanks Tester1. Very useful information.

Any other views?

I think that sounds like a reasonable price for a 3-bedroom place and Beverton seems quite nice. My friend lives in Donabate and I visit quite a bit and it is a lovely place. Train is very efficent and very handy for town (have never managed to get a seat though!). Nice pub, nice couple of restaurants. Just be aware that there are plans for a large complex to go in on the grounds of St Itas hosp in nearby Portrane...you might just want to check that out as an increased availability of apartments in the general vicinity might impact on the price of yours. The main drawback to me for Donabate (and the reason I wouldn't live there) is the distance from the City for for socialising. If you tend to go out in town alot then you could spend alot on taxis getting home at night. However, if you don't then that's not such a problem. My friend and her husband are very happy there,

No dart, you mean arrow?

We live in Donabate - and was the best decision we ever made. Really a country feel but close to the city too. Its only 20 mins on the train to Connolly. You won;t get a seat but thats not a problem.

Our house was recently valued at 420k for a three bed plus attic conversion. Not far from Beverton. Seems pretty reasonable price to me.

The taxi home for a night out in town is €30-€35!!

Donabate is lovely. There will be a metro stop close to Donabate at Lissenhall in a few years time which should increases prices. Beverton is one of the nicer areas of Donabate - a very quiet estate by all accounts. I live in an estate over the other side of the train line three years now. very happy.

Thanks for the feedback. How are the bus links with the City , Malahide, and Swords ?

Bus links poor enough, no direct link to Malahide or Town but you could transfer at Swords via the 33b. 33, 41 or 43 from Swords to City Centre and 102 to Malahide. [broken link removed]

can I ask ye, who do live there, what ye like & dislike about living in Donabate. We're looking into it as a possibility but know nobody living there and want to make a good decision.

Thank you.
