I was looking into buying a house when i seen a pub come onto the market in my local town. It has generous living accommodation overhead and is in good condition overall. It is reasonabled priced and has a good reputation. Would this be a good investment for the future? Are pubs a dying trade?
If you are interested in buying then talk to the estate agent and ask to see accounts / cash flow statements. I'd imagine the owners have these available as people would not buy a business without seeing them. Great idea by username, make an offer to lease it for a year and then make your decision then perhaps.
There are enough ex publicans around to give you a steer...maybe contact one of the Vinters Associations to see if anyone ex publicans would give you a steer...
have you thought about buying a pub in spain, say the costa blanca ,around cabo roige or la zenia...i was out there recently and there is some great value to be found....

I think your mad ....well..... unless your thinking long term before expecting to make any real gains and don't forget all the over-heads you will have to pay while sitting the recession out.
